MOAR SCHOOL!

Every time there was an economic downturn that resulted in my losing my role in the past, I’ve gone back to school.

In 2009 when the publisher I worked for went out of business, I went and earned an MFA in screenwriting. Then in 2014, when my job of two years ended in Baltimore, I went and got my JD.

I was laid off a while back and have been having a hard time of it. During that time I joked that I would have to find another job because I couldn’t just go back to school again.

Well….

I’m probably going to go back to school. But this time, it’s cooler than Baltimore Law School… even cooler than LA film school… This is a fun sentence to write.

I’m going to get my PhD in Literature and Linguistics by studying and translating Romanian folklore and fiction in the Carpathian mountains for basically free.

Both myself and my brother have joked about changing my last name to “Acula” after I finish the degree.

Passport renewal is on the way and I’m already reaching out to PhD supervisors and learning some basic Romanian.

So this space may get a lot more interesting soon.
